Proper eye makeup application can take practice. Do not fret if you don’t seem to be doing it properly. It is best to experiment, and find a method that works best for you and your eyes. The following paragraphs will provide some valuable, but basic, eye makeup application tips.

Eye shadow application can seem difficult to do properly, but it does not have to be. There are a few basic tips and suggestions you can use to make eye shadow application easier. The following paragraphs will discuss some of these tips, as well as the best way to apply eye shadow per your eye type.

Firstly, one of the general ideas behind applying eye shadow to the eyes is the maximizing of the eye shape using up to three different shades. These shades are, of course, a light one, a medium one, and a dark one. Following a few basic eye shadow application guidelines can make all the difference in the world to you final appearance.

For those with smaller eyes, it is best to dust a medium color eye shadow on the upper eyelid, as well as the crease. Then add a darker shad to the outer part of the crease. Once you have gotten to this step of your eyes shadow application, you can add a lighter shade of eye shadow as a “highlight”, just under your brow line. Using this method of eye shadow application can make the appearance of small eyes seem larger.

If you have eyes that you feel are too close set, there are some makeup application tips that can help you. First apply a medium shade of eye shadow to your eye lid up to the crease. Apply a darker shade of eye shadow to the outer part of the crease in your eye lid, and blend it outward, towards the outer edge of your eye. A lighter “highlight” eye shadow can be used on the brow bone. Following these instructions, you can give your eyes the appearance that they are set further apart than they really are.

Always begin eye makeup application with the shade that will cover the largest portion of your eye. In most cases, this is the medium shade.

Always keep in mind the basic principals of light and dark eye shadow when attempting to master eye makeup application. Dark colors are most general designed for areas of the eye needing receding, as light shades of eye shadow tend to bring areas forward.

Basic Application of Theatrical Makeup

While theatrical makeup may look like it would be easy to apply, it can sometimes be very tricky, and hard to apply properly if you don’t know how. Theatrical makeup is considerably thicker than regular makeup, which can often give a person the impression they are putting it on too heavy. The truth is, most people do not apply theatrical makeup thick enough. Even if your finished faced appears to be very dark when you’re finished, it will likely fade under bright stage lights. The following paragraphs will provide some basic techniques that go along with applying stage makeup properly.

When applying basic theatrical makeup, the foundation should always go first. Try to choose a shade that is a shade or two darker than your regular skin tone. Starting at the forehead, blend the foundation upward, towards the hairline. When this is complete, cover the rest of the face with foundation, including:

ears

eyelids

neck

It is important, when applying theatrical makeup, to not forget to cover the neck. If the neck is forgotten, it could cause the face to look mask-like. Once the darker foundation is used on these areas, a lighter shade then should be applied over the shadows that can appear under the nose, as well as on the chin.

When applying theatrical makeup properly, after the foundation has all been applied, the blush should be done. Of course men would want to choose a paler shade of blush than women would. The blush should be streaked over the cheekbone, then gently blended. It should also be lightly blended over the nose and forehead. Use the blush generously, as it will need to be visible to the audience. When the theatrical makeup blush is applied properly, it will almost always be darker on a woman than on a man.

In regards to theatrical makeup, applying eye makeup can often be considered the ”hard part“. Firstly, the eye area is often lightened by using a white highlighter along the brow bone, as well as under the eye. The highlighter should be carefully blended, so that the area is lightened, but that there are no white streaks present. Next, a color should be selected, that is just a tad darker than the natural skin tone. This color should be brushed over the eye, above the lid, but under the brow. This color should also be blended under the eye. Now you may add color to your eyelid, much like you would with regular makeup. However, with theatrical makeup, you should apply it darker than you would on a normal day. Once all of this is done, it is safe to apply mascara.

For best results from theatrical makeup, lipstick should come next. This is a pretty simple part of theatrical makeup application. Lipstick and lip-liner can go on in any order, depending on personal preference. They should be applied in the same way you’d apply every day makeup, only darker. Up close, it will look fake, but from the stage will look perfect.

Lastly, once all of the other theatrical makeup has been properly applied, loose powder should be dusted completely over the face and neck. Doing so will help ensure the theatrical makeup will not run or streak when the actor or actress sweats on stage.

In regards to eye makeup application, eyeliner can be just as important as mascara. Using eyeliner properly can add extra flair to your eyes, as well as give them the look you are going for. Eye makeup application is pretty simple when it comes to eyeliner pencils. When you know how to do it, eyeliner pencils can be applied in seconds.

Firstly, you must determine what color of eyeliner pencil may work best on you. This is simple. If you are blond, red headed, or have light brown hair, you should choose a shade of brown. If you have dark brown hair to black hair, you should probably choose a black eyeliner pencil.

During this phase of eye makeup application, take your eyeliner pencil, and extend a very thin line as close to your upper lash line as possible. Start the line in the corner, near your nose, and extend it all the way across. Repeat this step with your lower lashes, however, do not make the line under the lower lashes as heavy. Doing so may give you undesired effects.

It has been said that by looking into someone’s eyes, you are actually looking into their soul. Our eyes can be the most expressive body part we have. Therefore, eye makeup application must be done properly in order to present the right look. The following paragraphs will discuss eye makeup application, as well as provide some useful application instruction and tips.

How to Apply Mascara

Mascara can be a very important part of eye makeup application. Mascara can extend your eyelashes, as well as give them volume and make them appear more full. If your eye lashes are on the short side, you should probably curl them with a lash curler before applying mascara. Doing so will help frame your eyes.

To apply your mascara properly, first place you index finger about half way up you eyelid and gently pull upwards. This will help hold you lid at an angel, thus helping you to succeed with your eye makeup application. It will also help you to be able to reach your eye lashes better with the mascara brush.

Now that you have your eyelid in position, gently sweep the mascara brush from the roots of your eyelashes to the end of them. You can roll the mascara brush slightly as you sweep your lashes. When you are done with the sweeps, you can gently move the brush along your lashes, from side to side, in order to help distribute the mascara evenly among your eyelashes.

If you intend to use more than one coat of mascara, it is very important that you let the mascara dry completely between applications. Doing this during eye makeup application can help your eyelashes to appear thicker, while also helping you to avoid mascara clumps. Wet mascara can also smudge very easily, thus can leave unsightly little marks on your eyelids. Blinking while wearing wet mascara can do this. Before applying your second coat of mascara, check for these mascara marks. If they are present, you can clean them off with a Q-tip.

Don’ts in Applying Mascara:

Coat your mascara on your eyes.

Wear mascara that is too dark for your eyes

Apply a second coat of mascara while the first application is still wet.
